The origin of this breed can be traced to a horse named Old King, born in 1908. In order for a horse to come under the classification of American Cream and White Horse, it should have a while coat, but its skin must include a pink pigmentation. While it is necessary for other albino breeds to have pink eyes, not so for this breed, therefore horses with different colored eyes can also come under this category. It is also possible to include horse breeds that range from ponies to draft horses into this breed, provided they meet up to the skin color requirements.

Unlike other albino breeds, the American Cream and White Horse does not succumb to diseases such as deafness, blindness and madness. These are problems usually associated with albino breeds. The only precaution necessary with them is to ensure they don’t get sun burnt because the pink pigmentation of their skin makes them susceptible to it.
