The horses can be categorised in different ways. Some horses may be accredited under the category of war horses while some as racing ones and some as mere carriage carrying horses. But the most the diversifying thing about the Bhotia pony is demonstrated in its name it self. The suffix pony answers many qustions about this horse. The Bhotia Pony is found in Nepal, Bhutan and the Sikkim and Darjeeling regions of India. They are a riding and pack animal, similar to the Tibetan Pony but less broad. They are most often white (gray) or bay in coloration. The Bhotia Pony is comparable, though less broad than the Tibetan Pony. Distinct color characteristics are generally bay or a white-gray color.
This horse is a small horse with low riding back. But one cannot compare it with a volkswagen bug but yes one can assume that it is closer to a toyota corola. The horse is used extensively by tourists in the hilly rigions acrooss the himalayas of Dargeeling and sikkim. The Bhotia Pony is also very stable horse as its up bringing is in the hilly regions. Infact the horse is agile and the grunt is evident when it begins to sprint. This horse is robust and thus is breeding has always proved to be successful.
