Cheju is an Island located on the Southern coast of South Korea. The Koreans strongly believed that the Cheju breed of horse originated in this island. However the equestrian experts have something different to say. The Experts believe that the Cheju breed of horse was introduced to Korea by the Chinese.

Eventually in Korea machines replaced animals and humans in some cases, the horses also fell in number as a result. Today the breed is considered to be endangered by the equestrian experts and they are begging for the preservation of such breeds because you never know when humans will need them again.
The top qualities of the Cheju are, these horses are very sturdy and survive extreme weather conditions; they are also highly resistant to various diseases and common problems like ticks. The breed can live up to 20 year or more depending on its living conditions. The horse can also carry up to 250 pounds which indicates its sturdy nature. The Cheju comes mainly in Bay, chestnut and black colors. These are some basic colors for many breed of horses. However the other qualities you can look for are deep jaw and a small muzzle.
