The Colorado Ranger is the original stud horse in the Arabian horse’s category. Since these horses were much in demand in the Stud category it was exported to the United States in large and also was preferred for cross breeding with other studs. The horses drew a lot of attention from the horse enthusiasts because of their vibrant colors and shiny skin.
The Colorado Ranger Stallion had some classic princely qualities like a spotted coat and the mottled skin effects. There are several associations that are functional and aim to protect the lineage of the horse. The name Colorado Ranger was coined in the United States itself because it was mainly bred in the Colorado plains. It does share many resemblances with the Appaloosa and some are even registered with the Appaloosa horse club. However in reality both the breeds have very less in common in the gene pool.
The Colorado Ranger has a high performance capability due to which is bred. There is also mainly no color preference for the horse breed in the sense that some horses are defined based on their skin and color. However the same cannot be applied to the ranger as it can carry any color. It is considered to be mere pigmentations of the skin.
If one has to trace the blood line for the Colorado Ranger, then they should do so by directly referring to the original foundation of the sires. There are many technical aspects of horse breeding involved to do so. In the United States this fine breed is credited to a person called Mike ruby, who took the sole responsibility of breeding it and promoting it and also maintained files in the process. In order to trace the lineage one has to refer the records and ledgers maintained by this person.
