The Danish Warm blood has a long history and today the breed is not the same as what it was when it originated. The native Danish warm blood basically belonged to two categories, the “Frederiksborg” and the “Knabstrup”. These horses were not originally suited for any kind of contest including dressage or show jumping. As a result of severe cross breeding in the Danish Warm blood the horse that is available today is capable of many of such contests and even horse racing. However the whole breeding program was consciously steered through by several horse experts through careful selection of gene pool.
As a result of the cross breeding today several of the champions in various categories are the Danish Warm blood in the European Equestrian games. Without experience and expertise it is difficult to identify the horse and one ahs to refer to the registry for confirmation. The best of the Danish Warm Blood thoroughbred horses have a unique combination of string legs and body strength. These two forms the winning combination of the horse and are well suited for races and equestrian shows. Not all Danish Warm bloods are allowed to breed and the stallions which meet certain breeding standards are allowed to breed for this particular horse category.
The other popular and positive traits of the horse are they have an excellent calm temperament which makes it very easy to train them, and they also take instructions very well which is ideally suited for dressage competitions. The Danish horses are also extremely popular as show jumpers because they have excellent trotting capabilities. A Danish Warm blood can measure anywhere from 16 to 17 hands and the coat always sports a solid and shiny color. The horse is of superior quality and is termed as versatile for its showbiz nature.
